The Pepper Parlor
The Pepper Parlor is an unpublished app I mocked up in 2021 for an app design class using Adobe XD. It was a transactional app for people interested in purchasing quality sauces, jams, and pickled goods. They could also buy the ingredients and tools to make their own goods.
My Process
The Pepper Parlor was born from a place of randomness. One day, my boyfriend informed me that he would be making spaghetti sauce with his grandma from the tomatoes they'd picked from their garden. Walking to class with no ideas for my app in mind, I said to myself "I can make something from that". With a personal foundation, and because of the random and odd nature of the topic, I wanted my app to be represented with whimsical swirls and the many colors that sauces, jams, and pickled goods can be. Due to the niche selection of this theoretical purchasing app, the design was kept extremely straightforward and simple.
The Binding of Isaac Checklist+ is an app that keeps track of the hundreds of unlockable achievements in the game The Binding of Isaac: Repentance. Though this didn't make it in the final project, search functionality, AR functionality, and possibly even compatibility with The Binding of Isaac: Repentance was planned as shown in my mockups.
My Process
As one of my favorite games of all time, creating a checklist app for The Binding of Isaac was a passion project. This idea spawned from my own frustration at the game, as the many unlocks really were hard to track for me (especially when aiming for second and third completed save files). This app aimed to solve any sort of organizational issues one may have while playing the game. I designed it as if it were to be an official add-on, using graphics and font from the game to give it that feel. The navigation is meant to be simple and stylized because I figure my main user base would be newer Isaac players. There was a bit of disappointment once I realized there was no time for search and AR features, but this was one of my favorite projects I've worked on.
